DESIGN THE PERFECT HOME OFFICE AND STUDY
LED LIGHTING TO PROMOTE CONCENTRATION & COMFORT
There is more to successfully working from home than having a desk and a laptop. With a well thought-out LED lighting plan, you can make your home office a comfortable space by selecting the right color temperatures and lumens. You can even increase your concentration, as the right light makes you more alert and more efficient. And thanks to clever LED technology, you can reduce your electricity bills too. What are you waiting for? Be focused when working from home by developing your own lighting plan today.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT LIGHT LEVEL FOR YOUR WORKSPACE AT HOME
Which color temperature is the best choice for my study? Color temperature is measured in Kelvin:
- Warm white light: 2,700 Kelvin
- Neutral white light: 3,300 to 6,500 Kelvin
- Daylight white light: over 6,500 Kelvin
Lighting for a study or home office should be at least 4,000 Kelvin. Bright light with a high blue content keeps you alert, active and supports your concentration.
WHAT TYPE OF LIGHTS SHOULD I USE FOR MY HOME OFFICE OR STUDY?
Modern LED lights are low-energy and long-lasting. The constant calm, flicker-free light has a beneficial effect on your eyes. With the additional warm-dim function, you can easily adjust the color temperature when needed to adapt to lighting conditions outside.
THE OPTIMAL DESK LAMP TO HELP YOU CONCENTRATE ON WORK
To ensure the lamp on your desk is as effective as possible, you should choose your desk lamp carefully. An angle poise lamp is ideal, as you can reposition the lamp over and over again (for example, if you have a problem with the printer on a side table, or are regularly referring to a book next to the laptop). If your desk does not provide enough room for a good desk lamp, you can choose a clamp lamp which you can attach to a shelf above the desk.
BE CREATIVE! HOW TO DESIGN A LIGHTING PLAN FOR YOUR HOME OFFICE
When first creating your home office, you should consider optimal lighting for the workspace with a mix of daylight, direct and indirect lighting:
- Ideally, your desk should be positioned sideways to a window. Sufficient daylight will then fall on the workspace without dazzling you. At the same time, you can always let your eyes stare into the distance – this relaxes the eyes and the mind.
- Bright basic lighting is essential to get you motivated in the winter and on cloudy days. Modern LED lighting is ideal: you can spread several spots over the entire ceiling to illuminate the room evenly. Depending on your requirements, you can turn on all the spots, or just some. On bright, sunny days, the LED ceiling lighting can stay off altogether. Alternatively, pendant lights provide the basic brightness needed.
- Spot lighting in the study is recommended in normal daylight. In addition, you can create individual islands of light in the room: An atmospheric illuminated picture on the wall, an LED floor lamp (such as an uplighter) in the corner and a LED table lamp on a shelf are just a few of the creative ideas for harmonious study lighting.
With even highlights, you can create a cosy place to work. Design your personalized LED home office, be inspired, and be your best!
